Kinfolk Workshops are fun and inviting arts experiences based on theatrical storytelling, music, and movement.

At the heart of Kinfolk Workshops is the spirit of gathering. Folk songs sung across generations, stories passed between people, and bodies dancing through space - these are all living traditions that remind us that creativity belongs to everyone. The arts should be shared, not perfected. Through folk music circles, theatrical play, movement exploration, and collaborative creation, people of all ages and abilities are invited to explore creativity together.

Enter the world of storytelling through traditional folk songs! In this interactive workshop, participants will discover songs from different cultures and centuries, from sea shanties to ballads, to hunting songs and more. Using the Vocal River technique, we will begin by exploring vocal textures, tone, harmony singing, and melody finding, before learning some fun call and response songs together. This workshop can be expanded upon with more advanced songs and choral arrangements.
